2024 is here and while we had quite the year in music last year, we have a feeling this one will be the same if not better. While we don’t necessarily have the inside scoop on all things music, the With the Band team considers ourselves music experts and pays close attention to what our favs are up to. With this knowledge and expertise (and some discussions with fellow fans!) we’re giving you all of our 2024 music predictions! 🫡
Albums
Now we know that everyone wants their fav to release an album as soon as they finish touring the last one but after considering the time each of these artists’ usually takes to make albums and the fact that some of them haven’t released new music in a while, these are the album predictions we feel (and hope) are most likely happening in 2024! 💿
Halsey: Halsey hasn’t graced us with her incredible voice and pop-girl magic since 2021 and we’re dying to hear new music. With Halsey revealing that they are working on their next album in September 2023, we can only assume that the album will arrive sometime this year!
Harry Styles: Harry dominated the pop scene in 2022 and 2023 with his latest album, Harry’s House, and his incredible Love On Tour. While Harry is taking a well-deserved break for a while, Harries have been discussing the possibility of an album in the Fall. His albums are usually about 2.5 years apart and based on Harry’s House release date of May 2022, that puts HS4 later in 2024 with hopefully a tour to follow in 2025!
Liam Payne: While Liam has released a few singles since his debut album, LP1, in 2019, he hasn’t dropped his sophomore album yet. Liam announced a South American tour in late 2023 that was later canceled due to health issues, so we’re sure he’s just as desperate to release new music as we are to hear it!
Taylor Swift: Now this might be a little bit of clownery but Taylor only has two re-recordings left, reputation (TV) and Debut (TV), and what better way for her to announce them than at the final shows of each leg of The Eras Tour? Now, there are 3 legs of the tour left, which leaves room for a TS11 announcement at the very last show of the tour in December. This might be wishful thinking, but we’ll clown for Taylor Swift any day!
ZAYN: Zquad everywhere cheered when ZAYN finally released “Love Like This” in July of last year and announced that he was working on his fourth album. If ZAYN’s next album is anything like “Love Like This,” it’ll definitely be full of bops!
Joshua Basset: Joshua has fed us with all of his amazing EPs but has yet to release a full-length album. Since he finished his Complicated Tour last May, we’re hoping he’s finally had some time to write even more bangers and we can finally hear his highly-anticipated debut album this year!
Phoebe Bridgers: With the success of boygenius in 2023, it feels like the perfect time for Phoebe to release her next studio album. We’ve known that she has been writing since she released Punisher, she also finished her Reunion Tour, The Eras Tour, and The Tour with boygenius last year. Phoebe even teased that it was the “final Punisher show” at her last Eras Tour date, making 2024 the year for new Phoebe music!
Rihanna: Now this prediction really has no basis other than the fact that the whole world is dying for new music from RiRi. While she hasn’t released an album since 2016, she has released plenty of singles and remixes. However, after her incredible Superbowl Halftime Show last year, we’re begging Rihanna to feed Navy. We think RiRi might even drop a surprise album and cause even more hysteria with her highly-anticipated ninth studio album.
Lennon Stella: With her dreamy vocals and catchy melodies, it’s no surprise that we’re obsessed with Lennon. While she hasn’t released an album since 2020, she revealed that she’s been working on new music and is doing it on her own time. We’re anticipating that 2024 will finally be the year for new Lennon Stella music but only time will tell!
Kelsea Ballerini: Our fav country pop girlie had quite the 2023 with the success of Rolling Up the Welcome Mat, (including a Grammy nom!) and we’re on the edge of our seats to see what she does next. With the momentum Kelsea has going into this year, we’re expecting her to drop an album later this year with more emotional lyricism and genre-pushing tunes!
Lorde: We’ve had Solar Power on repeat since its release in 2021 and are getting antsy waiting for Lorde to finally drop its follow-up. Lorde caused chaos just last month when she posted an Instagram post with the caption “Listening to myself,” implying that she’s working on new music. She later replied to a fan explaining that the album isn’t super close but she’s excited. Hopefully, we’ll hear Lorde’s fourth album later this year!
Katy Perry: It’s been nearly four years since Katy dropped a full-length album and while she has been busy with her Las Vegas residency finishing up late last year, there have been plenty of rumors that Katy is working on her “most personal” album yet. Katy also teased KP6 at one of her residency shows and we can’t wait to hear the album soon!
Tours
With our list of album predictions as well as some albums already confirmed for 2024, we're theorizing all of the artists we hope to see on the road sometime this year! 🚌
Billie Eilish: While Billie hasn’t explicitly confirmed that her next studio album is arriving this year, she has been teasing it with pictures of her in the studio and stating that a new album is on the way. Fans are expecting that this is the year for a new album and along with that, hopefully, a tour is soon to follow!
Selena Gomez: Selenators were sent into a frenzy when Selena replied to a fan’s Instagram comment in December 2023 stating that SG3 would arrive “in 2 months.” While we’re excited for this confirmation, Selena has also recently stated that it will be her last album and we can only expect that she will tour one last time as well. It’s bittersweet but we are still excited for this new Selena era!
Luke Hemmings: 5SOS fans have been theorizing a Luke tour since the 5SOS frontman performed his 2021 album, When Facing The Things We Turn Away From, for two nights only last June. Since then, Luke has been busy on The 5 Seconds of Summer Show tour but fans are still holding out hope since Luke has expressed that he wants to tour the album eventually. With 5SOS taking an indefinite hiatus at the moment, it’s the perfect time for Luke to tour his solo album!
ZAYN: While we’re expecting a new album from ZAYN this year, we’re also hopeful he will tour following his fourth album. ZAYN hasn’t toured as a solo artist yet but revealed in a July 2023 interview with Call Her Daddy’s Alex Cooper that he feels like he’s finally ready to get back to performing live. We’re crossing our fingers that we can finally see ZAYN live as a solo artist this year!
Ariana Grande: With Ariana confirming her seventh studio album in an Instagram post captioned “see you next year” in late December 2023, we can’t help but anticipate a tour to follow. While she has a full year ahead with her starring role in the upcoming film adaptation of Wicked, we’re dreaming of at least a tour announcement later this year.
Other Predictions
Albums and tours aren't the only thing we're predicting in music this year. Now some of these might be a bitttt of a stretch but can you blame us for clowning a little bit? Here are some of our other predictions for music this year! 👀
2024 GRAMMYs: The 66th Annual Grammy Awards are quickly approaching and we can’t help but predict the outcome of the prestigious awards. While it’s hard to say what exactly will happen on music’s biggest night, the With the Band team is pretty split with our predictions. We’re expecting sweeps from either Olivia Rodrigo or boygenius. With both artists releasing massively successful albums last year, we can only expect there to be close competition between the two. While we’re almost certain Taylor Swift will add yet another Grammy to her collection, we also expect her collaborator and friend Ice Spice to be a front-runner for the Best New Artist award!
Frank Ocean Comeback: This prediction is honestly just us wanting new music from Frank Ocean and while he has been teasing new songs on his Instagram story, we aren’t show when Frank will officially make his comeback to music. With his unfortunate Coachella incident last year, we hope Frank can finally come back to music smoothly and with a bang through a single, album, or even live performance!
Niall Horan tour openers: Niall fed the Lovers well with his third album The Show and as a coach on seasons 23 and 24 of The Voice in 2023. He’s set to embark on his massive world tour, The Show: Live On Tour 2024, in February and we can’t help but notice he’s yet to announce his opening acts. With two back-to-back wins on The Voice, we can’t help but theorize he’s gearing up to bring his two mentees on the road with him as the opening acts!
Miley Cyrus Vegas residency: Following the success of her 2023 single “Flowers” and album Endless Summer Vacation, fans were a bit disappointed that there wasn’t a tour announcement along with the album. Miley hasn’t toured in nearly 10 years and revealed last year that “[i]t just isn’t what’s best for [her] right now” in a message on social media. She also explained that she doesn’t enjoy life on the road but we are still holding out hope that she can still perform her latest album live. With Las Vegas residencies growing in popularity over the last few years we feel like this is an avenue that Miley might explore this year and can have "The Best of Both Worlds” this way!
Harry Styles concert movie: With our prediction of a new Harry album later this year, what better way to hold fans over than with a concert movie or tour documentary? Rumors and theories of a concert movie have circulated nearly the entirety of his Love On Tour, with Harries seeing film crews and disclaimers of filming in progress at multiple HSLOT shows. While it could’ve been for his short tour recap, Love On Tour, Forever, we’re longing for the day we can watch the “Satellite” stomps in HD.
While these predictions are fun, at the end of the day we don’t know that any of this will happen this year. However, one of the best parts of being a music fan is never knowing what your favorite artist will do next. Here’s to 2024 and another year of incredible music and fandom connection!
