Now that things seem to be getting back to normal after nearly a year and a half of being in a pandemic, the music industry is finally getting back into full swing. With several artists and bands such as the Jonas Brothers, Twenty One Pilots and The Weeknd having tours scheduled for later this year and early into next year, it’s safe to say that things are looking up. Just as concerts are ramping up, so are single releases, album announcements, and so much more!
We are so excited to see what the rest of this year brings! 😍
Fans are also getting excited and ready to plan fun activities to prepare them for the upcoming events. What’s the best way to celebrate new artist content?? Talking to other fans of course! Fan accounts can be a great way to help your favorite artists grow their fan base, and running a fan account can create lifelong friendships with other fans of your fav! ⚡️
Do you want to join in on the trend? Are you wanting to show support for your favorite artist but are unsure of where to start? Mostly, are you wanting to connect with other fans?? Well, look no further! Here are our top tips for starting a fan account:
1: Pick your favorite artist - just one! To start off, focusing on only one artist will be easiest to manage.
Pick someone whose music you enjoy and could listen to forever - this way you’ll always feel inspired to keep up with the account! If you’re having trouble picking an artist or are stuck between two, go to Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, or wherever you listen to music and see who you listen to the most.
Who gets you the most excited when they release new music? Who provides a lot of content you can work with? Who has a lot of fans you can reach out to? Start there! 💥
2. Decide what you want your account to be about.
Is your account going to be a place for fans to share updates and talk about the exciting releases your artist has coming soon? Is it going to be a place for fans to collaborate and create fan projects/plan meetups? Is it going to be a place to make friends with other fans who have similar interests as you? Or will it be a little bit of all of the above? You decide! Setting the direction you want your account to go in will help you figure out how to get started. 😄
3: Figure out which platform you want to use.
This might require some research. To reach a lot of people, social media is necessary. In this digital world, using social media is one of the top ways to communicate with people from all over the world! To figure out which platform to use, ask yourself, “What app do most fans use to talk about my favorite artist?”
For example, Taylor Swift fans often use Tumblr to create fan pages/fan clubs because Taylor is active on there! On the other side of the spectrum, K-POP fans often create fan pages and clubs on Twitter because that way they can easily share and promote their fav artists’ new music!
If you are running a fan account that has more to do with an artist’s fashion or style, Instagram might be the right pick for you! 💕
4. Once you figure out which platform you want to use to create your fan account, it’s all about the aesthetics!
How are you going to get people interested in following you? First, pick a theme that you love and is also relevant to your artist. Are you a big fan of Billie Eilish? Make your profile pic have a beige background since that’s the color scheme of her new album!
If you’re using Twitter, maybe take one of the picture’s she’s posted, crop it, and make it your header! If you’re using Instagram for your fan account, you can use a photo editing app to make your posts all consistently fit into your theme. Some great apps to use are Template, VSCO, and PicsArt! These are just some examples of how to create a fun, welcoming page for your fan account! ✨
5. Set some rules!
Want your fan account to be an inclusive place for everyone that joins? Post something that outlines what you want your account to be. For example, if you want it to be a positive, safe space that doesn’t tolerate negativity or hate, make a fun graphic on Canva that outlines these rules! Want your fan account to have certain age limits? If you’re going to be posting about an artist whose music and content is more mature, you might want to consider making your fan account age restricted. To do this, you can make your page, whether on Twitter, Instagram, etc., private and only accept people who are of age. 💜
Your fan account is ready to go! To help grow your account, it’s important to find people who are just as passionate about your fav artist as you are! Go see who’s following your artist’s page, and give them a follow! Maybe send them a message telling them you’re starting a fan account and hope they’ll join! If you are not wanting to remain anonymous, you can share your new fan account information on your personal social media pages and highlight why your friends should join. It’s all about building a community where everyone feels comfortable and safe to talk up a storm about how much they love the artist! 🖤
