Remember back in "august", on the last day of the U.S. leg of her Eras Tour, when Taylor Swift officially announced 1989 (Taylor’s Version)? Remember feeling like October 27th was months away and time was moving too slowly to handle? Yeah, we remember feeling like that too. Can you believe that the day is finally here? 1989 (Taylor’s Version) officially drops tomorrow, and, here at With the Band, we haven’t stopped talking about it! Everything from the easter eggs in music videos and tour outfits, to the vault tracks and official re-recordings, we can barely sit still! Here’s everything we know so far about 1989 (Taylor’s Version). ✨
Of course, the standard version of the original release of 1989 has 13 tracks, and the deluxe edition added on “Wonderland,” “You Are In Love,” and “New Romantics.” The 16 original songs from the deluxe version of the original album have made it into the re-recording, as well as 5 new songs “From the Vault!” In true Taylor fashion, in order to get the titles for the tracks “From the Vault,” fans needed to solve a series of puzzles on Google. Only after the puzzles were completed did Taylor reveal her “From the Vault” tracks: “‘Sl*t!’,” “Say Don’t Go,” “Now That We Don’t Talk,” “Suburban Legends,” and “Is It Over Now?” Taylor also hinted at another bonus track on the Target exclusive vinyl! We can’t wait to hear them! 🎧
We could go on and on about the similarities and the symbolism between the original 1989 and the rerelease, so we might as well! One of our favorite things about the new album is the cover art! The color scheme and font are pretty similar on the new cover to the original. However, the new album cover features Taylor smiling under a sky full of seagulls. This is definitely one of our favorite album covers of hers! And how about the release date? October 27th, 2023, is the nine-year anniversary of the release of the original album! We love that Taylor is celebrating the original release with her re-release. 🌊
One thing we can’t wait for is all of the physical copies of 1989 (Taylor’s Version). We’re so excited to get our hands on the vinyl color variants, different CDs and covers, and cassette tapes! Her vinyl has five confirmed color variants: Crystal Skies Blue, Aquamarine Green, Rose Garden Pink, Sunrise Boulevard Yellow, and the Target exclusive Tangerine. All of the colors are so beautiful and pastel and SO Tumblr circa. 2014. Taylor also has four different variants in her CDs! They come in the same blue, green, pink, and yellow colors, as well as the original CD with blue skies and seagulls printed on the face. She’s also offering a multi-colored cassette, with Side A being Aquamarine Green and Sibe B being Sunshine Boulevard Yellow. All but the Target-exclusive Tangerine vinyl variant are available on Taylor’s official merch website! 📀
Speaking of merch, Taylor’s merch website is packed with 1989 (Taylor’s Version) merch, with everything from t-shirts and sweatshirts, to a keychain and sunglasses! One of the most unique merch items currently on her website is the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) View Finder which comes with 2 disks! Overall, her merch is super cute and super on-theme with the new album, and we just can’t wait to see what it looks like in person! 🤍
We’ve also been thinking a lot about how the re-recorded songs will sound. We loved her instrumental and vocal additions to her previous re-recordings, and, if 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is anything like her re-recording of “Wildest Dreams,” we cannot wait to fall in love with this album again. Taylor even went as far as to say that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) was her “most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done.” Taylor puts a lot of love and care into each and every one of her songs, and we are so excited to hear what she does with these new releases! 🎉
Friday simply cannot come soon enough! We can't wait to hear all of the re-recorded songs, listen to the new “From the Vault” tracks, and get our hands on the merch! We're already planning quite the celebration with our friends and families! What are you doing to celebrate 1989 (Taylor’s Version)? Let us know on our Instagram! 🌟
