In case you don’t know who Troye Sivan is, he is a pop singer-songwriter who gained his following and got attention through being a Youtuber and posting cover videos. And that’s exactly how Ashley discovered him and became a fan! For Troye's Bloom Tour, Ashley created a fan project for his Bloom Tour in Berlin, Germany. Ashley, as well as two other girls, organized the project. She says of the project, “[h]e was one of my favorite YouTubers and the project was to show him how much he means to us and to thank him for creating a safe space like that for all of us. I think a lot of us feel very accepted in his community and fandom”. Troye used his YouTube status to release his own music, which made his fan base grow even more. His music has helped shed more light on the LGBTQ+ community and mental health issues through his songs and platform.
Ashley and her two friends put so much planning, work, and love into this amazing fan project! They went to a store, bought a bunch of colored crepe paper, and spent hours cutting the paper into squares. They then placed the different colored squares into clear bags with instructions for the fans. Fan volunteers planned to hand out the bags, have everyone take a colored square, and hold the square piece of paper to their flashlight on their phone during Troye’s song, “Heaven”.
Here is a video of the process of making the fan project and the outcome at the concert:
